Jordin Sparks can take a long jump off a short pier!

September 24, 2008 at 12:35 pm (media, sexuality, the world) ()

Boy that jordin sparks can’t take a bloody joke! yes i know this analysis is about 2/ 3weeks late, but bear with me. When did adults get morality lessons from inexperianced corn- fed children. HERE IS THE LESSON JORDIN ……NEVER!!!

HOW DARE THE BIG BUFFA BUFFA GAL CALL ME A SLUT!    jordin was so insensed by russel brand’s off colour humour that she blew her gasket and said ” well not everyone wants to be a slut” OK!!!! right well we all know how she feels.  she could have just taken the high road and said words to the effect of ” well it’s considered polite to knock people’s religious beliefs over here” and we would have said oh what a sweetie.

now  some of my friends have chosen celebacy, good for them, but do they go around calling me a whore? nope! do i go around calling them a bunch of frustrated wankers? no,  so why is Jordin mouthing off? sexual frustration? here is the lesson, if i am saving myself for true love, or marriage (i think they can come together or be very different things) how  on earth  can i know either thing will come my way?  i know several people who have never married, many of them over 50, so if i had hit 30 and never met mr right according to jordin, if i wanted to enjoy personal sexual intimacy, before my equipment dried up I’d be a slut ,whore of babylon. first thing i can say to that is she is living to the rules of a harsh unforgiving system.

so in short the judgemental can go suck sarah palins nuts!

Black people and media portrayal.

September 24, 2008 at 12:20 pm (black people, britain, media, the world) (, , , )

The mainstream media is not friendly to black people as a whole, we are largely stereotypes.   they foster feelings of pity for black people , helpless pathetic and to be feared. they are agents that drive black people apart. they stop black people trusting and or trusting each other.

When i was a young girl the image i saw represented most of black people was one of harrowing starvation. a woman whose bony baby was clinging to her empty ravaged body by  sucking on a clearly empty breast the woman’s body was practically given over to inevitable death. her  skin ravged and dried from  exposure to the harsh sun. juxataposed next to an advert for a lingerie shop. a tall voluptous white woman whose bosom was flung sky high and plump red moist lips pouted at the viewer. maybe it was shoddy editorial choice that had those images together, but i guess it might have been a sick bastard witha sick sense of humour.

sure i can see how you could choos  to rebut my arguements with a swift ” they are only stupid stereotypes just ignore them how can they affect you?” think carefully . how many people are hurt by things that  people do not even consider

The male streotypes

1.Musclemen beautiful black men  so  buff they exist only to lusted over and poured over.

2.the next black  male stereotype to exist is the criminal type, beloved of crime dramas, cop shows, white paranoia and bill o’ reily.

3. then finally the male stereotype that i personally take issue with, the enuch. a true yessuh, everythings good  uncle ben, he is devoid of anything complex, he lacks any depth. he is the minstrel of the black and white minstrel show. he just smiles and doesn’t have  anything that  indicates that he is a man let alone  human. no compassion for himself, no sexuality, no feelings, no intelligence.

 The female stereotypes

1. the mammie, fat beyond all grounds of healthy appetite,  she too has no sexaulity, she is concerned only with  entertaining white people and cooking. she like the enuch has no complexity and intelligence.

2. the goldigger, a magpie, women who  make personal gain from leechong from men, they are vampires of the matearial wealth that men possess they are little better than whores.

3. the thunderstorm, a woman with anger, she is comsumed by anger, at  her life, her children, her spouse, at everyone, she is  like a sheet of paper, thin and two dimensional.

the reason why these stereotypes piss me off is that  when you have a film, television programme, every other ethnicity  has an opportunity to show  rounded characters  and black people are served up the same century old tripe and we have to swallow it, because  that particular black actor/actress is working and power to them they have families to feed.

when i was auditioning for a female lead back in the early noughties, i felt dismissed out of hand, the person doing the casting  even looked at me letting me know that it was unfeasable, they let their eyes wander around the room,  put down the script and  started talking to the director . needless to say the part was not given to me. now do not get me wrong, i can understand if it was a big budget  film and they were worried that a black lead was not going to sell, but it was a local theatre full of local people, about 40% would have been black or married to black people once you factor in the size of my family. so they would not have lost a share of the audience Why is a black female lead so unfeasable?

The only black male lead that i feel a lot of people  are comfortable with, is the mighty lascivous moor Othello whose sexually jealously leads him to murder his loyal white as monumental alabaster wife. that is what people want to see and exepect of black people.

Why hasn’t richard curtis included a black woman in one of his films most of them occur in london and london is not as socially segragated as america, we all go for drinks after work and entertain each other in our homes. we got a black man in love actually and my only critcism is where was the large black(african/ caribbean) family  he missed a great opportunity for comedy and  merriment. well a man is always a start.  we are still waiting for a great literary figure to immortalise a black woman ( even in a negative way).

we need to counteract it, not all black people are stereotypes, some people play into stereotype and basically help nobody, but they are not who concern me. I want to make films but i have neither cash nor vision.  i would not make biased films that exclude anyone, i would like to show the world from a perspective little seen.   I think maybe i ask too much of the media to change, because theeir world is one where maybe the only black people they know may be the school dinner lady and those scary fellows they saw on crimewatch for robbing a bank. maybe my plea has to be young black kids who are good at drama and technology and pray that they stay the course and end up dwarfing  not only spike lee ( whose films i think are ok, but a little left field) but speilburg as well.

Because i am effeing tired of being portrayed as something pitiful, i am not starving, or whoring, or being subserviant ,being criminal or in any way deviant.

show people like me, i saw someone like me in a film once, it was a good film just that the characters are white, i think a film with black people does not have to have violence or be horrifically sexual to be considred good.
