You want to know why right?

November 25, 2007 at 11:49 pm (britain, multicultralism, the caribbean) (, , )

because it took me 20 minute to et wordpress to accept my password and i am not particularlly slow ( so she says). the eenie weenie minutiae  just irritate the  wast out of me.

Anyhow my first post i should introduce myself… I am  in my early twenties, I live in england, i was born there, I am black, my parents hail from the caribbean. we are happy healthy and live a good life. What grinds my gears severely though is whenever i turn on the bloody television and people are discussing   the black british community if there is anything bad to be said … “it’s those west indians” …. because we are all the same right… dispite the fact that we come from over 12 different countries across a wide region. We have good and bad and we ought to be applauded  for being one of the few communities to recognise the fact.  In my family when my grandparents talk about the difficulties they had when they came to this cold ( in weather and sometimes in sprit) country they look back and laugh.  Growing up in the empire  all the children were taught , oh the wonders of the great mother country and the sophistication of the people and the land… were far superior to anything that you could ever dream of.  When they arrived  they saw things that appauled them…  people who wore the same clothes for a week..   and when  a boy walked up and asked them … how do you know when to have a wash? ( they are from the tropics love they bathe everyday) that made english people sound like the great unwashed.. we do not judge when to wash on the look of our skin, we bathe evryday because it is nessecary. My grandmothers on both sides were nurses and they found hospital hygiene lacking . today we see a sepia tinted nostagia for the days of Matrons and  bed bathes by hattie jacques types but my grandmother’s were astounded to see… matrons spitting on patients and rubbing in the the spit with hankerchiefs to wipe away stains. matrons returning bloodied dressings onto wounds to save  soiling new ones… never mind the infection sir at least we have a full pack of dressings in the stock cupboard.

Little better were the neighbours, who took aim at tiny children (guess they were too afraid of big strapping 6′2 west indian man) so the neighbours thought it was alright to throw things at infants and spit at them. So when that strapping 6′2 west indian found out, guess what, these people would suddenly become humble…  cowards! the best part of the story is the undecided racists.

“you come here to take our jobs….. you’ve come here to laze about and do nothing you lazy …”  they are always funny in their ignorance. why am i ranting.. well here is  the rub because of Saddique Khan and his 7/7 cohorts, we are starting to se this kind of behavior  resurface insideously, it is masked with a veneer of respectability because the politicians saw  some “ethnic” people blow up a tube now multiculturalism is dead….. long live  keep britain white.  in ten years we may have a far right  government.  Here is the news, hold the front page multicultralism is here to stay and we ALL have to compromise If we can not learn to to live together then WE ALL  will perish.
